New orders for durable goods such as autos, appliances and airplanes are expected to fall 1% in September, according to economists polled by the Wall Street Journal. The weakness is expected to be concentrated in autos and aircraft. The Commerce Department will release the report at 8:30 a.m. Eastern.
For the first time, the “advance” release will also include estimates for the entire factory sector, including non-durable goods.
In the past, economists had to wait more than a week for the full data set.
